Tucker Albrizzi: One Inspiring Young Actor!
For this aspiring comedian, childhood hasn't always come easy. Tucker Albrizzi was only seven when he realized he wanted to pursue acting. The next thing he knew he had an agent and booked his first commercial! Acting, however was not what brought Albrizzi to L.A.
Pixie spoke to this brave young star and found out how he went from living in Florida to starting up his own charity and traveling around the country!
What was your first job?
My first job was a Blue Cross/Blue Shield commercial. It was good but I had to hold up a fish and it cut my hand. I was supposed to be on a boat but the boat sunk! Everything was just falling apart. We finished it but it was a long day.
You have a pretty impressive resume, how did you make the move from commercials to TV and movies?
I came out [to L.A.] and no agency would take us. We found this agency called Maverick Agency. They're really wonderful.
Tell me about some of your favorite roles you've played.
Tyler in BIG TIME RUSH, Jake on GOOD LUCK CHARLIE and Bartleby on Spooky Buddies were probably my favorites.
Do you enjoy doing the animated movies?
They're so much fun and I have another animation coming out in August called ParaNorman. I Play Norman's best friend Neil. Norman can see and talk to ghosts and I help him out.
Is comedy your favorite thing to do?
I love anything with comedy. That's the number one thing I prefer. I would see one day doing stand-up but right now I'm going to focus on TV and movies.
What made you move out to L.A.?
I didn't come to LA for acting, actually. My brother had Cancer and we have a charity called Driving For Donors, so we went around the country signing people up to the marrow donor list. We've saved 35 lives so far and a studio out here wanted to do a documentary on it, so my brother, my mom and I flew out. I had done commercials in Florida, so I started doing it out here and I got a pilot. It was an ABC Family pilot called CLASS DISMISSED. I think it was my 3 or 4 pilot out here which was really good luck. [Editor's Note: CLASS DISMISSED was not picked up to air.]
How is your brother doing today? My brother is all healed up now and he's in a boarding school in CT. We're still going around and signing people up!
What do you like to do in your spare time? I like to play video games. I like to do Krav Maga, the Isreali Defense and I like to play the instrument the Macarena.
Stay tuned for an interview with Tucker on his upcoming movie, ParaNorman in a future issue of Pixie!
